UPSIE, a new project for UZ Gent

STRABAG Belgium has secured a new assignment! We will realise the closed shell works for the new radiotherapy park, emergency psychiatry facility and energy management building on the campus of Ghent University Hospital. The project is part of the ambitious master plan Project U, which will see the campus undergo a major transformation over the next ten years.

With a gross area of 12,400 m² and a volume of 55,000 m³, this project presents a significant challenge — especially given the complex conditions on the busy hospital site. Construction will begin in spring 2025 and will be carried out in collaboration with VK architects+engineers.

The radiotherapy bunkers will be built using heavyweight concrete — a STRABAG Belgium specialization we are proud of. The modern and sustainable façades will feature masonry combined with aluminum joinery.
