On Friday, 6 June , the official opening of the new GRL site in Paal-Beringen took place. The Glass recycling plant is an impressive industrial project realised by STRABAG Belgium in partnership with Bouwbedrijf Keulen H. The design by OYO architects and the expertise of engineering firm Stabilux have resulted in an innovative facility that embodies the future of sustainable construction.

Martine Meuws, General Director of GRL Glass Recycling & logistics, proudly opened Belgium's most sustainable glass recycling plant, joined by Jo Brouns, Flemish Minister of Environment and Agriculture, Thomas Vints, Mayor of Beringen and Christoph Bildstein, General Director of Remondis Recycling GmbH & Co. KG. Their presence underscored the importance of this new site for the region and the glass recycling industry. We are especially proud of our decision to use a 100% circular steel building structure at the site, resulting in an impressive CO2 reduction of 86.3%!

This opening not only marks a new chapter for GRL, but also a step forward towards a more sustainable future. We are proud of what we have achieved together with our partners and GRL, and we wish GRL every success in their new facility.
