STRABAG Belgium to build ROC Building for ONDRAF/NIRAS
STRABAG Belgium has been awarded the mandate to realise the ROC building (Reception and Storage Center) for ONDRAF/NIRAS, the National Agency for Radioactive Waste and Enriched Fissile Materials. For this assignment, we are responsible for the construction, infrastructure works and the pilot contract for ancillary locks of the new building at the Belgoprocess site in Dessel.
The ROC Building will serve as a crucial storage facility for unconditioned radioactive waste from both Belgoprocess and external parties. The infrastructure will also house advanced radiological measurement facilities, enabling non-destructive analyses. The design includes temporary storage for conditioned waste in 400-liter drums, contributing to efficient material management.
For this project with a total area of 6,000 m², Arteum Architects is responsible for the design, while Jacobs, Orano, Sweco and Arteum provide the technical expertise.
We are honored to carry out this important and complex project, which forms part of the innovative approach of radioactive waste management in Belgium. Drawing on our many years of experience and extensive in-house expertise, we are fully committed to delivering a high-quality and safe facility for ONDRAF/NIRAS that meets the highest standards.
