Designer Outlet Center, Vancouver

Designer Outlet Vancouver combines sustainable architecture with a vibrant shopping village experience, attracting tourists, strengthening local roots, and creating hundreds of new jobs for the region.

Designer Outlet Center Neumünster as a starting point

McArthurGlen and Vancouver Airport Authority (YVR) commissioned STRABAG Belgium together with STRABAG Inc. Toronto to build North America’s first Designer Outlet Center. This Design & Build project is located on the grounds of Vancouver International Airport. The contract references the successful Neumünster Outlet Center in Germany—also delivered by STRABAG Belgium in 2013—as the benchmark for creating this new Canadian shopping destination.

First Designer Outlet Center in North America

Think global, act local’—Designer Outlet Vancouver is set to become a major tourist attraction in the region. Beyond offering a premium shopping experience, the center will help retain Canadian dollars within the local economy and generate over 1,000 new jobs. Designed with environmental harmony in mind, the outlet integrates walking and cycling trails that connect seamlessly to Sea Island’s existing networks. Spanning 40,000 m², this luxury shopping village unfolds in three phases: Phases 1 and 2 feature 29,117 m² of retail space, 12,931 m² of high-end malls, and 1,166 parking spaces, while Phase 3 adds 15,638 m² of retail, 8,187 m² of malls, and 690 parking spaces.
