Elia Service Center
STRABAG Belgium was awarded the mandate for the construction of Elia's Service Center in Kruisem.
The turnkey contract included structural works, finishing, technical installations, and environmental landscaping.
The new-build service center in Kruisem comprises an office building, a warehouse with workshop, ancillary buildings with roads and landscaping.
The office building (main building unit 1) has a gross floor area of 1,155 m², the warehouse with workshop (main building unit 2) covers a gross floor area of 5,083 m², and an outdoor waste collection facility of 4,001 m² has also been provided, including a covered outdoor storage area of 355 m² (annex building).
Innovative & sustainable
The future-oriented service centre is a showcase of innovation and sustainability. The project includes a passive office building, an energy-efficient warehouse with workshop, an annex building, a waste collection facility and landscaping.
The sustainable design integrates, among other features: water infiltration systems for efficient water management; green roofs that contribute to biodiversity; modular prefabricated elements for an efficient construction process and to minimise construction waste, reducing the ecological footprint; biobased materials, including thermally treated wood using the traditional Shou Sugi Ban technique.
