Elia Service Center
STRABAG Belgium has been awarded the contract for the construction of Elia's new Service Center in Kruisem.
The turnkey contract comprises structural works, finishing, technical installations, and environmental construction.
The new service center in Kruisem will include an office building, a warehouse with workshop, and outdoor facilities such as a waste collection facility, roadside infrastructure and environmental landscaping.
The office building (main building unit 1) has a gross floor area of 1,155 m². The warehouse with integrated workshop (main building unit 2) covers 5,083 m². Additionally, an outdoor waste collection facility of 4,001 m² and a covered outdoor storage area of 355 m² (annex building) will be provided.
Innovative & sustainable
The future-oriented service centre will serve as a model of innovation and sustainability. The project comprises a passive office building, an energy-efficient warehouse with workshop, an outbuilding, a waste collection facility, and environmental landscaping.
The sustainable design integrates, among other features: water infiltration systems for efficient water management; green roofs that promote biodiversity; modular prefabricated elements to streamline the construction process and minimise construction waste, thereby reducing the carbon footprint; and biobased materials, including thermally treated wood using the traditional Shou Sugi Ban technique.
