STRABAG Belgium has extensive experience in delivering a wide range of educational projects, from nursery and primary schools to secondary schools, campuses, colleges, university buildings and specialist educational facilities, such as sports and technical schools. As a contractor involved in the Scholen van Morgen programme, we have also delivered several new school buildings across Flanders.

Educational buildings present specific requirements in terms of design and construction. Classrooms, practical training spaces, laboratories, sports facilities, lecture theatres and communal areas each have their own functional and technical requirements. Acoustics, indoor climate, building services, accessibility and different user flows also require careful coordination. From an early stage, we therefore work closely with the client to address the technical feasibility, planning and execution of the project.

A well-considered project strategy, rigorous planning and optimal coordination of the various construction activities provide the basis for an efficient and well-managed construction process. This is particularly important for projects on existing school or campus sites, where construction activities need to be carefully coordinated with the activities that continue during the works. Together with the client, we therefore develop an approach that takes into account the specific circumstances and phasing of the project.

Our local expertise in areas including BIM, MEP, LEAN and digitalisation supports this integrated approach. It enables the different disciplines to be coordinated at an early stage, technical challenges to be addressed during preparation and planning, and construction processes to be optimised in a targeted way. Depending on the chosen form of collaboration, we can also provide a Design & Build approach, closely aligning design and construction.

When selecting construction methods, we also look for solutions that meet the technical and economic requirements of the project. Where the design and project-specific conditions allow, prefabricated and modular solutions can, for example, be used to organise construction efficiently.
